ANNETTE UTZ FOR THE STAYTON MAIL The Stayton High School field house was transformed into a magical garden of twinkling lights and ribbons for the Stayton Library Foundation’s fourth annual Santiam Canyon Father Daugh- ter Ball, held Saturday, April 9. The formal event is open to girls 4 to 18 years old and their dads or other father figures. The goal of the evening is to provide a chance for fathers and daughters to bond and strengthen their relationship and to let fathers know that there are important ways to spend focused time with the young ladies in their lives. The theme for the ball this year was “A Fairy Enchanted Evening” and it was the most successful that the foundation has held yet, offering every- thing from music to snacks and re- freshments. “It was filled with dancing, activ- ities, photos and fun for fathers and daughters,” foundation event director Brenda Moore said. “We had over 350 dads and daughters enjoying the night with us … as well as grandfathers/ granddaughters and uncles/nieces.” Moore noted that guests attended from throughout the valley, including Stayton, Sublimity, Scio, Aumsville, Turner, Silverton and Salem, and, this year “reached as far as Albany, Mt. J.R. Traeger and Parker, 5, dance together during the ball on Saturday. For the fourth year, Summit Clean- ing & Restoration has been a premier sponsor. Additional sponsors this year include Allied Rock, Focus Heating & Cooling, Freres Foundation, Lulay Fi- nancial, Siegmund Excavation and SCTC.
