1 ! 1 I ii mere are no limitations to human'poesibility, no boundary to the progressiveness of the human race. It is for man to Srrow, aspire, toil for and eventu ally arrive toward the perfectfon of ideals. It is his destiny to disclose the secrets of the uni verse, the secrets that he has discovered through tireless in vestigation and research. Man is directing his efforts and influence to his fellows, to inspire their faculties along the higher plane of thought. He is becom ing able to magnetize in ways hitherto unknown, and to direct his knowledge for the betterment of mankind. There are those who, being broad minded, vill admit that the body is governed by the minrt to an alarming de gree; are willing to agree that mental treatment is probably good in some cases, and that such things as visions, appari tions, even materialized spirits have been known to exist, mar vellous cures affected by the lay ing on of hands: although they themselves are skeptical, as none of these demonstrations occurred under their observation. The countless frauds that are prac ticed all tend to weaken one's belief in the appearance of spirits with recognizable human forms, etc. It is not even necessary that the fake-medium be a clever sleight-of-hand performer, for these mysterious agents of spirit land invariably require a. room but dimly lighted. Perhaps those who would investigate would be promptly put out, not wishing an expose. The scientific mind only can define and interpret the true mediumship. Seeing is believ ing. One of the most graphic and wonderful illustrations of this same mental healing has actually occurred in the vicinity of Houlton. Mrs. , living near Trenholm, for months past suffered from a complete nervous breakdown, bordering on St. Vitus Dance. So serious did this disease become that she OTDLTON 9 A PAGE OOI,l!3OTKIi5L COUNTY v( : OF NEWS NOTES FROM OUR NKKiHHORlMi f untold nerves Friday in Houlton shopping. Mrs. Stains is spending a week agonies from twitching She had almost lost the power of speech. Two weeks ago Mrs. went to Portland for treatment. One day, while down street, she chanced to stop a mo ment at a spiritualistic meeting. Perhaps it was mere curiosity for she had given the subject no theught or study. In the course of the meeting the Healer became acquainted with her obcession and before she left the room she was made seemingly well and sound. Mrs.- describes the sensation as being most unusual. First, her facial muscles became rigid, but only for an instant, then a feeling of intense languor and heaviness appeared to creep over her whole body. When this strange sensation had passed away she felt her returning strength and was able to leave the room and go to her destin ation unassisted. She was ap parently cured.
