S. Frakes Co., of Portland, for loss of a stock of millinery. The court sustained the contention of tho plaintiff and ordered Uie pay ment of the policy - in the sum of $7000. The loss was sustained three years ago. Miss Frakes is a daughter of Ex-County Commiss ioners Philip Frakes, of Scappoose. Seth L. Pope, well known among the old time residents of Columbia County, died at his home in Port land last Sunday. Mr. Pope's fath er was a resident of Colombia County for many years, residing in the vicinity of .Bachelor Flat, and served as county judge in the early organization of Colombia County Seth Pope was 75 years of age at the time of his death.
