An ex amination of tho laws of this state reveals tho fact that 23 counties in thn slate are rtcciy lug from tho general fund of the State in round numbers $20,000 for fairs, ranging in amounts for each county from $500 to $2000 Der vear. The legislature of passed a bill providing for a county fair for Columbia County carrying with it an appropriation of $7o0 per year which bid was promptly vetoed by tho Governor on the grounds of economy.
