Rev. C. M. Van Marter returned to

The work done here by him during the
three wceka revival meeting made it a
certainty that the meeting would be well
attended, and no one present regretted
that they were there.

AT CHAPMAN'S CAIIP
Flag Raiting Accmpanied by
Appropriate Ceremonies
by School.
In the most favorable weather, con
sidering the season of the year, Flag
raising exercises were held outside of
the school at Chapman camp, the
school room being too mall to accomo
date the children and those who attended
the exercise. The school has thirty
five pupils and ia entirely supported by
the Chapman Timber Company. Able
addresses were delivered by Mr. J. H.
Collin Superintendent of schools for
Columbia County. He was pleased to see
such a thriving school with such love
snd earnestness for tbeir work and
the display of patriotism during; the
exercises. It Wat a great credit to who
ever it belonged, who supported socb a
private school as not one penny waa
given from tbe school funds towards its
support, and the school would be a credit
to any communitv. His address received
the attention it deserved and was heart
ily applauded at its conclusion,
Mr. Hepworth spoke of tbe strenuous
timet when the flag of freedom was
first raised compared to present times.

attending school to maintain and even
raise its standard higher, and he ex
horted tbe children to alwayt have aa
high standard to look up to, and they
could be proud ot such men as Wash

On Sunday next the reorganized and
rejuvenated St. Helens ball team will
a roes bat with their old bunch of favor
ite, the nine from Ridgefield. If we
get away with this one there will be
some baseball playing, ai the boys from
the dry town are fiends at the National
game.

Scappooae, were visitors to the county
seat last Thursday.
