ORDINANCE MO. tt
STATE COMMITTEE MEETING
- . rhe meetinsr of the Republican
; State Central Committee in Port
land on Saturday last was attend
ed by 16 members and 11 proxies,
Seven counties were unrepre-
" 6ented.
. These 16 members and 11 prox
i ies decided that there should be
U an assembly held in Portland on
July 21st for the purpose of ad
! vising the Republican voters of
I' the State to nominate certain
1; candidates for State offices. Dele
gates to the State assembly are
: to be selected by county assem
i blies, and delegates to the county
: assemblies are to be chosen by
I majority vote at precinct mass
S meetinsrs to be called by the
county central committee, the
date for the precinct mass meet-
i1 ings to be Saturday, July 9th,
X- and the date for the county as
semblies to be Saturday. July 16.
There are to be 1248 delegates to
the State assembly, and of the
number Multnomah county is to
- have 350. There was some pro-
xs, test against this arrangement,
' but it was insisted upon and
fi adopted. It means that.Mult
. nomah county will have full con
is,, trol of the advisory assembly,
: and will have the power to name
its candidates. This for the rea
sen that the delegates from that
f county will all attend, that they
will be under able leadership and
V- will be carefully selected. Their
program will be arranged in ad
vance, and they will have many
- allies from outside counties where
Multnomah financial and political
poweris always felt Many dele
s' gates from other counties will
not be able to attend, and, in
some instances counties that do j for .Una'.ures).
