In a recent visit to Rainier the editor of the Mist bad the pleasure of meting Mr. W. Kennedy, one of the Hood River men who have recently purchased stump land in the Beaver Valley. Mr. Kennedy bought eight hundred acres of stump land and expects to clear 80 acres j early and to put fifty acres iu Northern Spy Gravenstein apples and Bettire d'Anjou peart. He isclearing with a donkey ea- giue and it takes about three d ij-s to clear an acre, the expense being 73 per acre.
