twelve years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. N.
Brian, of Yankton, was accidentally
killed last Tuesday afternoon by the dis
charge of a shotgun in hi own hands.
He was out hunting; birds for craw fish
bait, and it is supposed that in climbing
over a log his foot slipped and the gun
was discharged, a few shots striking him
below the right breast, but the greater
portiou of the charne entering the head
neju the right jaw. He was horribly
mangled, the side of his face being laid
open and part of his ear torn away. It
is thought he was instantly killed. Cor
oner Sherwood investigated the case and
found a verdict in accordance with the
above facts.

James Wilson, a logger working for
the Case Lumber Co., at Rainier, met
instant death Wednesday as a result of
an accident Wilson, in company with
other men, was trying to balance a log
for loading on tho car when it became
unmanageable, one end going to the
grouud and the other rising twenty feet
in the air. A man named Post had hold
of the log with Wilson, but when it start
ed up, Post let go Jhis hold, but Wilson
did not. When the log struck the
ground Wilson's hold was broken and he
fell heavily on the ground, striking his
shoulder in such a manner as to break
his neck.
