Th coal miner' strike in Pennsyl vania reached a critical point last Friday at Hasleton, where tba striking miners were 6 red upon by a poeee of deputy sheriffs aad twenty-one of thm killed. Tha striking miners were on tba march, and when intercepted by the heriflf and poss tha trikr drew up in tine as if to offer resistance, and, according to telegraphio report, on of them atruck the sheriff, who at once gave tha order to fire, with ths result as above stated. About forty five othr ware seriously wounded, many of whom may die. The whol affair, waa a moat unfortunate one, and in many quarter th sheriff receives sever censure. And yet it cannot be disputed that the officer of the law muet preeerve order. It 1 said the striken were all Hungarians, Poles, Llthuniana and Slave. He was quite well known in this pert of the county end waa a candi date for commissioner at the last election. He leaves a wife and six children and was sbout 48 year of age. The matter of ths Bryant estate seem to be coming before tbe county court again. A great deal larger estates have been set tled witb a great deal less trouble, but it is said to be tbe little things of life that worry as most, end this esse seems to prove an illustration. Some of the heirs hare gone to Bt Helens this week again.
