The McKinley Republican club held its regular meeting in the court home lust Wednesday evening and adopted the new constitution and by-laws Which had been formulated by the special committee appointed at the previous meeting. After explanations at length upon Ihe duties of officers and committees, the club entered into a general discussion as to how to best promote Interest in ihe club meetings, and as a result it wa the unanimous Limb Killed His Carp, rrobably the only sportsman in this section who has succeeded in killing all the carp in his lake and giving the ducks a chance to find something to eat there,' is David Mounastes, says the Oregonian.- He had a trench cut Irom his lake on Bauvio's island e as lo drain the lake all but a place in the center, some 250 feet across, and into this be emptied four barrels of lime, which iuat knocked the carp silly and killed ever last one of them which did not escape through the drain. He then dammed the drain, and the rsins filled the lake, and the vegetation on which the ducks feed ii beginning to grow again. He has, however, like everyone else bad to feed the ducks this wintor, and says he has not missed his shoot a single Hunday all winter, The bags he has made are nothing to what they used to be in days gone by, for he save there is not one duck now whore there used to be a hundred, but he manages to knock down about fifteen or twenty every Sunday, which he says is about as many as any of the boys get. There la no doubt as to the firacticability of killing the carp in akea that can be drained, if enough lime is dumped into them after the water has been drawn off as far aa possible, but the trouble is that when a big June Boor cornea and covers a large cart of the island, the earn will find their way in again, and the kill ing will have to be repeated.
