My head was completely stopped up and 1 could not sleep at nights. I uan recommend this remedy." A cold nearly always starts in the head and afterwards extends to the throat and lungs. The fishing sea son opened last oigbt under rather unfavorable auspices. The weather was exceedingly boisterous, and but a small proportion of the boats ventured out. Of those that did take the risk none went near the bar, where the fiebiug ia generally the best. In con sequence tbe catch was small, prob ably averaging aix or seven to tbe boat. A number of men were doubt less engaged in fishing before the sea son opeued, a number bringing in 25 and 30 nab, but aa a rule, those who were known to bave been out but one night returned with but three to ten salmon each. Cannerymen aud fish ermen, alike, are ot the opinion that tbe pack thia year will be small on ac count of the low water, for without ex ception, since the inception of the sal mon industry, tbe catch has been small every year in wbicb the volume of water in tbe river waa comparative ly light. Tbe gillnetmen will be most seriously affected, as they rep the r harvest when tbe water is high and muddy. The traps and seins are ex pected to do much better than usual. the conditions being favorable for the former especially. Some of the cannerymen are mani festing great interest in starting the Clackamas hatchery tbia year, while othera favor the establishment of a hatchery near tbe moutb of the river. All of the canneries, with the excep tion of the Astoria Packing Company, have begun work, and the latter will probably be started in a few weeks.
