appears to be good authority, tayt the
Sunday thcgoiiian, that Corey Bros.
win pity the liens on the completed
portion of the Portland A Astoria
railroad and resume operations at an
early date. A it now Stands the road
is graded eighteen miles from Astoria
and a fow miles of track are laid. The
report comes from Tom Komntre. one
of the foremen of construction of the
road. lie went to Salt Lake some
lime ago and returned here Friday.

grading gang, who has a claim againat
the company, he said the work on the
roud would be resumed soon. Messrs.
Remington and Waten, railroad men
and capitalists, of Sail Lake, be con
tinued, were en route to Portland with
funds with which to discharge tbe in-

Keminyton will take charge of the
work aud will push the road to com
pletion. Mr. Remington baa been in
Portland and Astoria a Dumber of
imes. Several months ago he visited
the latter cily, and then returned to

known here. He it urobably the mon

of building lumber of a standard grade.
Judging from the number of logging cat
tle wintered in the Nehalem valley this
year the loggers out side are expecting a
