Allx Gill of Oregon City was down Sunday visiting his brother Fred. Elmer Loyd has recently bought the Miller confectionery and pool hall. Mrs. Jack Edwards of Tide Creek camp entered the hospital at Rainier Sunday. Mrs. Shannon Shafer has been quite ill for the past week and is not im proving very fast. Miss Fay Larnerd Is here from Yakima at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Bert Adams. Miss Fay expects to stay several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Meahan are camping and berry picking this week. Mr. and Mrs. Judisch visited them at the camp Sunday. Chester and Edward McConnell came home from their trip to Hot Springs very much under the weather Chester being under the doctor's care. Rose Gill, who Is visiting relatives In Spring Valley, Minn., writes that she is having a fine time. The large fields of grain and the storms were of especial interest. Loyd Mills end Bert and 'Albert Adams attended the St. Helens cream ery meeting Saturday, ns there was not a sufficient number present no vote was taken as to joining the Ore gon Dairymen s league. The Womans club met at the II brary last Tuesday afternoon and spent the afternoon sewing for Mrs Frank Daly. Next Tuesday after noon will also be a sewing day. Mrs. Joe Bernie was in Peer Island Saturday arranging to shiD household goods to LaGrand where Mr. Bernie has a fine position at double the wages teceived here. A letter from Ralph Mehan states mat he is working for the state high way commission and has been sur veymg the Mt. Hood loup. The school board of District 45 have bought a supply of paint and before school opens the "Happy Ho, low" schoolhoiiKe will be given a coat of paint. The district is fortun ate in having a board who take pride in the school and the appearance i the school buildings. Good progress is being made In moving the camp buildings to their new location. The cookhouse, cotn- 'missary, shops and many of the camp houses have been mved and Superin tendent Metculf thinks the work will be completed during the coming week. Head Carpenter Alfred Han sen with his force of men are rapidly making the necessary repairs to the buildings and getting things ship shape. W. I). Tatro and wife of Portland were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Tatro. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Williams of Houlton visited Trenholm friends Monday evening coming out In theli hew Ford coupe. H. R. Smith who has been on the sick list for some time, is much Im proved, a fact that is gratifying to his numerous friends. The school board meeting held Saturday night could not be called harmonious and little was accomp lished. However, since County School Superintendent Wilkerson has ruled that F. F. Tatro was duly ana legally elected. It is expected that the iext meeting which is to be held next week, will give serious consideration to the important school matters which should be transacted.
