A CREDIT TO THE STATE The Annual Edition r.f tho Dr. I goniati vas 'a credit to the state of Oregon and to the Oreeonian. The descriptive matter and pictures of Oregon 'b resources r.ill attract the atu-ntioi of the non-resident and t ill s'.rve to impress upon the Ore gon resident the great resources ano advantages of the state in which he lives. This yiar. as in former years, the Oree-mian has done a great service i " the stare. Commenting on the personnel of the legislature, the Oregon Voter has this to say of the representative from Columbia rountv. Hon. Sh Miles: "Only democrat elected to,! legislature. against re-, punnran opposition; because of his high Ktanding and because his poli tics were so well concealed that inaa rerteritly he was appointed by A L .Mills to solicit republican campalen funds for national committee; one of the well-known bankers of Ore gon: attained a fine record for suc ce'ful activity in patriotic drives Born St. Helens, ms; public schools .Salem and Portland; Canital Husi rps r,,ik-ee. Then, we no doubt have on oui lists partk-s who do not care to take the paper any longer, but do not notify us of their desire. If they do not want the paper we do not care to waste good material and laboi end:ng it to them. The Mist has tried In every v.ay pj.-sible to live up to the standard of i good country newspaper, but. liki anyone else who dues anything at all, we n:ake mistakes now and then. We have stood u.t fur the principle, in which we believe and shall contin ue to do so. We have not exploited any personal or sectional feei;i7S or issues, but rather the matters of a general nature of interest to every one, and we want the support of every citizen in Columbia county.
