Bennett." It should have been Homer C. Barnett. De ceased was an old time friend of J. A. Bushong and for gome mouths prior to his death had made his home with the Bushong family. The Willamette University Glee club delighted a crowded house last Friday with an entertainment which was one of the best ever heard here. Justin Wllklns, Roy Veazle and Archie Newbold left Monday for Van couver barracks, from which place they, with 300 other western boys, have been sent to Fort Meyer, Va., for further training before leaving for France. They enlisted In the En gineers' Corps. The Woman's Club Is arranging to buy a $50 Liberty Bond. Which one of the several church societies and women's lodges will be the next to do likewise? Committees are being appointed In all the above organiza tions for the purpose of aiding the St. Helens Third Liberty Loan cam paign in the coming drive. A lr.rge shipment of dry goods consigned to M. Rosenthal, while be ing handled by some of the crew of the steamer America, was lost over board. The goods were recovered, but so badly damaged by water that they were repacked and taken back to Portland. The loss amounts to several hundred dollars. Oregon stood eighth In the list o,f states in per capita War Savings Stamps sales on March 1, according to totnls compiled by the treasury department. Nebraska, with $4.33 per capita, led In per capita, and Missouri, with Bales amounting to $9,015,880, led in total sales. Sales In Oregon were $1,073,845, or a per capita of $1.25. The agricultural oouncll of the county has bought 6500 lbs. of red clover seed to distribute among the farmers of the county at cost. The price for sack lots will be 26 H cents f. o. b. St. Helens.
