The Red Cross clothes collection held here last week was a bounteous success. Over three boxes ot clothes for the Belgians were donated, and the promoters are lavish In their praise of the residents of Warreu. The goods received were of splendid quality and little worn. . They con sisted ot men's, women's and chil dren's clothing and shoes. An open meeting of the Grange is called tor Saturday night In conjunc tion with a meeting of the farmers who do not belong to the Grange, to definitely settle plans for the build ing ot a warehouse. Mrs. Noah Hill sold the chickens and rented her place to Mr. Gilmour and has gone to Portland for an in definite stay. The Macabee Ladies are practicing a drill to be given at the meeting in Portland next week. Scott was a business visitor in St. Helens en Friday, and then was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison for the evenlg and Satur day. Mr. Redy, superintendent of the Nehalem Timber & Logging Co., has resigned, his resignation to take ef fect April 1. He will leave for Brit ish Coumbia, near Vancouver, where he has interests In timber and a saw mil of his own. Congregational church: There will be a union service In the morn ing at 10:30. The children will have their Easter exercises. At the eve nlg service, 7:30, there will be special music by the choir, and this will be Mr. Johnston's last Sabbath as pastor here. The Loyal Legion organizers visit ed Scappoose Lumber Company last Thursday and every man became a member. On Friday they went up a vote of thar.ks and appreciation for their efforts, to the men. Every meet ing brings a large crowd, and Grange meeting is the looked-for society event of Warren. Progress and en terprise Is their slogan. Warren Grange is now one ot the largest in the state. Rhoda West was In Portland Tues day afternoon. Last Wednesday Mr. Gregot ad dressed the upper grades. Everyone is eagerly grasping the war news and discussing it in school. Misses Helen Watts and Marjorle Holiday are home for the Easter va cation. Friday evening the juniors gave the high school a Calico party which turned out a decided success. Alberta Shatto, who has' been at tending the Jefferson high school, is now a member ot our senior class. Mrs. Holiday's room is the banner room in purchasing War Stamps and Thrift Stamps. Bendure has returned from the Portland hospital, where he successfully underwent an operation. Guy Russell and Marie Wasser are members of the Second Rainbow regiment. Mr. Johnson and family have moved onto the place formerly owned by Mr. Campbell. Mr. Woods, who has resided on his farm for some time, has gone to Portland, where he will spend the summer. Nellie Raker, who has been at tending high school In Portland, is spending her Easter vacation with her parents. The monthly War Saving and Thrift Stamp sale by the school children amounted to $45. The amount sold last week by the chil dren was $276. A special Grange meeting was held In the hall last night. A number ot new members were taken In, among them being Mrs. Raymond, Clarence Daniels, Mr. and Mrs. R. Anllker, Eugene Zenter and Louis Wasser.
