THEHEFOHE. lie it resolved by raid Common Council of the City of St. Helens that Tualatin Street and Oak Street, in said City of St. Helens, Oregon, be Improved by the construc tion of a wooden sidewalk along the north side of Tualatin Street from the southeast corner of lot 22 of Mock 25, to the southeast corner of Mock 34, in said City, thence north erly, on Oak Street along the east side of Mock 34 to the Northeast corner of said Mock according to the established grade and plans and the specifications of the City Engineer on file with the Recorder -or said City; and said common Council here by declares its intention to so im prove said Streets. And It appearing that the said City Engineer upon the orders of said City Council, has made the necessary surveys, plans and speci fications for said improvement and has placed the total estimate of such improvement at the sum of $486.00. NOW THEREFORE, be it further resolved that the Engineer's plans, specifications and estimates be, and the same hereby Is approved. AND BE IT FURTHER RE SOLVED, That the cost of the con struction of said sidewalk be assessed to tho owners of the property ad jacent thereto, If the same be not constructed by the owners of such real property; and that the City Recorder give notice to the property owners to be affected by such Im provement in the manner provided by the Charter of said city, requir ing and ordering said property own ers to built and complete sidewalks. DAY, Attornoy. 20-6 FOREST SERVICE BUILDS TRAIL Two miles of the most difficult part of a trail botweon Hadley and Kasaan on the Tongass national for est, Alaska, have Just been completed accoratng to a report received by District ForeBter George H. Cecil, Portland, Oregon. When finished this trail will be six miles long and will connect the set tlements at Hadley and Kasaan. The cost of construction is estimated at $1,000 a mlie, which will be paid from the 10 per cent road fund de rived from national forest receipts. This trail will be a great conveni ence to the more than 300 men em ployed in the three working mines and several prospects which It will tap. Ultimately It may extend six miles beyond Kasaan to the It mine. Forest Supervisor W. G. Wolglo, of Ketchikan, is In charge of the trail work. Lime and sulphur spraying solu tion, 60c a gallon.
