Miss Leona Perkins was a Port land visitor last Motday. J. J. Liadzhl of Warren was a St. Helens visitor last Tuesday. IL F. McCcrmick was a passengei on the early train this morales foi Portland. James Bacon, of Warren, was transacting business In St, Helens yesterday. George Vocel of Rainier, attended to business matters in St. Helens Wednesday. J. H. Leds, of Clatskanie, at tended to business matters in St. Helens Wednesday. Mrs. Ross, of ScappoO-e, was at tending to business matters in St. Helens this week. Mr. C. O. Dahlgren, of Warren, has been quite seriously ill the past week but is now recovering. John Scott, of Kalama, Wash., a former resident of St. Helens, visited friends in this city last Tuesday. Mayor Frank BUhop, of Goble. attended the K. of P. festivities in St. Helens la;t Tuesday evening. Mrs. J. B. Caple3, a prominent farmer of Scappoose, was attending to business matters m St. Helens yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. N. F. Baker and Mrs. Dizney, of Warren, were attending to business matters in St. Helens jesterday. Miss Luia George and Miss Fleek cf Portland, visited last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. A. H. George in Si. Helens. John W. Cook, secretary of the Clover Hill Farms et Peer Island, was a business visitor tn St. Helens last Monday. Miss Eva Garrison, of Scappoose, was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Blakesley in this city last Wednesday. The Friendship Class of the M. E. Church will give a PARCEL POST SALE in' the near future Watch !or further notice. Mrs. N. A As'nby, who has been visiting with her daughters at Banks, Oregon, for several wests, has returned to St. Helens. Miss Dora Shaffer returned to St. Helens last Friday from the Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland where she has been ror some time recove:ing from an operation. Fred Adams, a prominent fanner and stockholder of Deer Inland, vis ited in St. He'ens last Tue.-day and attended the K. of P. Lodge in the evening. Dr. IL R. Cliff and son Kenneth, motored down from Portland last Tuesday and the Doctor attended lodge that evening. Doctor Cliff is recovering from his recent illness. On account of the serious illness of one of the members of the Yeo man Lodge of this e.ty, the annual celebration of that order will be postponed until March 10, 1915. Mrs. E. H. Flagg visited friends it St. Helens last Saturday. She was on her way to Warrenton, Ore., where Mr. Flaeg is about to begin the publication of a newspaper. Mrs. Johnson, who has lately purchased a portion of the old Downing piece near Warren, has just completed a new bungalow on her place, and will malre that her home. Mrs. J. L. Zipperer entertained on Tuesday evening with 500. Miss P.eryi Muckle won first honors and Mrs. L. J. VanOrsh.ven took the consolation prize. Mrs. Zipperer served delicious refreshments. N'. P. Olscn, a prominent farmer of the Warren neighborhood, was taken to Portland last Monday where he will be treated for stomach trouble. Mr. Olsea has been suffer ing for some time witii this ailment and for the past wee or two has been quite seriously ilL L. C. Hals' ead, formerly engaged In the barber business la St Hel ens, has returned to our city and is again engaged at tis trade, having purchased, the interest of P. D. Gibbs. in the Lynch and Glhbg shop. Mr. Halstead has a host of friends in this community who will be pleased, to know of his return. Mrs. A. T. Laws, Mrs. H. E. La Bare, Mrs. Y. A. Levi and Miss Anna Quick entertained their Sunday school classes in the M. E. church with a Valentine party. The little folks played games during the. aft ernoon, and each one received a val entine. After a most enjoyable time for an hour or two the ladies served refreshments to the guests. Rev. F. J. Meyer left today for Heppner, Ore., where he will occupy the pulpit on Sunday. He will also remain several days in the Interest of church work in the city, he being the representative of the State Su perintendent of the Congregational church. James D. McKay, of Scappoose, was attending to business matters in St. Helens last Wednesday. Mrs. John Sten, Miss Helen Sten and little John Sten visited In Port land last Wednesday. Mrs. J. W. Alien was taken to a hospital in Portland this week suf fering with erysipelas. Mrs. Wilbur Muckle spent the week in Portland, the guest of Dr. and Mrs. Fenton. EGGS FOR SALE Setting of 15 for 1.00. Mrs. John McNuIty. of Portland, and mother, visited last Saturday and Sunday with Prof, and Mrs. Mc XuIty in this ctiy. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Mackay, of Portland, are visiting Mrs. Mackay s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob George, in this city. Mrs. Leo Cook, or Portland, spent several days in St. Helens this week with her husband, who is employed in this city. A cablegram from Honolulu re ceived by Mrs. Jacob George, states that the Muckle party arrived safe ly at their destination in the Ha waiian Islands. Miss Laura Barber went to Eu gene last Wednesday as a delegate from the Christian Endeavor Society of St. Helens to the state gathering of this organization. She will be gone several days. S. C. Davis, of Portland, came down last Tuesday and visited with friends in the city for several days. While there he also attended the roll call of the K. of P. lodge. Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Morton enter tained Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Suther land and Mr. and Mrs. C R. Ruther ford with an au!o trip to Portland and a visit to the Ice Hippodrome in that city to witness tlie professional hockey game, last Tuesday night. A Lincoln party wi3 given it the M. E. Church parlors last Fri day night by the members of th Hp worth League. The par ior was dec orated with bunting, flags and pict ures of Lincoln with prjtty Valen tines to complete the scene. G.aies were played and refreshments were served Mrs. L. C. Chase visited her daughter in Kalama, Wash., this week, andw hile there was a guest at a most delightful Valentine party given by the Eastern Star lodge of that city. She was also entertained at a party given in her honor by her daughter, Mrs. Miller, at which sixteen of her former lady friends attended. Mrs. Helga S. Freeman, a former resident of St. Helens, has an nounced the marriage of her dau ghter, Christine Gndrun, to Mr. Harry Ford Kyle at Buffalo, Ore., on Tuesday, February 2, 1915. Today the County Treasurer re ceived a warrant from the Sta'e Highway Commission for $14,954-36 which is mother payment from the ?rat3 to the County for the surv y of the roads tinker the directicn of the State Hihvay Engineer. This amount was placed in the general road fund of the county and togeth er with the former payment of something like .TOO'., only leave, about 1 1000 due from the stata to the county on that account Little Louise Mae Black .elebrat ed her seventh birthday at the bene of Mrs. J E. Black In this city last Saturday, at which time a very pleasant party was tendered the young lady by a number of her friends. Games were played during the afternoon and refreshment were served. Vera Kelly, Victoria Rosasco, Neoina Chittim, Evelyn Peterson, Vel.na I Gibbs, Korrene Constantino, Ersyl Stanwood, Marilla and Louis Bla'-k. Mrs. L. J. Van Orshoven entertain ed with a dinner last Monday, Feb ruary 15th, at her borne on Columbia street. The col.r scheme war r.l and green, the rooms being decoru ed with red hearts and cuplds. On the center of the table was a lar?.. bououet of red carnations, with little red hearts as place cards. Those present were Misses Fleek, Georg, Dorothy John, Eugenia Deming. Lois Clear, Mrs. W. G. Muckle am! Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Van Orshoven. W. A. Levi, proprietor of the City Garage, Is preparing for a good trade In his line during the summer. He has enlarged his office and supply room, having placed a counter, shelv ing and show case ?ercin and filled the same np with supplies of every kind for the automobilist and cy clist. Mr. Levi hns machinery with which he Is prepared to make oil kinds of repairs, and Is adding ti his stock of accessories all the tlin.v The next line he will place in his stock will be tires of the famou. Firestone brand and he will be equipped with a sufficient stock to supply all the demands that may be made on him. The local lodge of Pythian Sisters entertained a number of members of the Ridgefteld lodge last night. After the business meeting the party visited Mason's popular lunch ro.ui and enjoyed a lunch. Mr. Billy Tate and family moved to the Allman place last Sunday for the summer. The dining room was artistically decorat ed with Oregcn grape and red hearts. 3ha2-d electric lights hung over each of the four tables. A buffot lunch was served.
