Sealed bids will be received by the City Council of the City of St. Hel ens, Oregon, up to the 24th day of August, 1914 at 5 o'clock p. m. and on that date publicly opened and read for the improvement of that portion of California Street In said city ly ing between its intersection with the present county road leading to Houl ton, now wost St. Helens, and its Intersection with the present travel ed county road leading from St. Hel ens to Warren, by clearing and grad ing same for a width of 20 feet on either sido of the center lino of said stieet and paving oamo with crushed basaltic rock for a depth of one foot in the center and gradually reduced to a depth of 4 Inches on the sides and all in conformity to ths plans, profiles and specifications of said work now on file with the Recorder of said city. A certified check for 5 per cent of the bid must accompany each bid submitted to guarantee the successful bidder's acceptance of said contract. Bond for one-half of I contract price will be required.
