■ Book review Author’s vulgar love of Japanese women an offensive waste of money Book offers little actual advice on 'How to Pick up Japanese Chicks' hut will 'Doom Your Immortal Soul' BY AMY UCHTY SENIOR PULSE REPORTER "Howto Pick up Japanese Chicks and Doom Your Immortal Soul" sounded interesting enough. Man, was I wrong. Author Josh Muggins writes about his lust for Japanese chicks and little else. Sure, I understand that's the title 0TtneD00K,Dut aTter 50 pages, it gets old really fast And the book goes on for another 200 pages on the same thing: his sexual escapades(or many times, lack thereof) and, surprise, his unquenchable lust for Japanese chicks. Perhaps I just didn't get his sense of humor, but the book gets so repetitive that Uv* 5‘W(> And Doom Y Immortal Soul JAPANESE CHICKS Josh Muggins Courtesy it simply wasn't funny. At all. Another huge problem with this book is that there are absolutely no characters to care about. The main character is Muggins, who readers can easily stop caring about on page 25. This is when you realize that you're not going to really getto know the depths of this guy, but rather just what he thinks about every Japanese girl that enters his life, which is usually just her breast size, the noises she makes if—and that's a big if— he has sex with her and occasionally, her name. As a woman (and half-Japanese one atthat), this book was especially difficultto read. Women, to Muggins, are just a piece of ass and the occasional warm body to sleep nextto. I really didn't care enough about this guy to hear about him giving oral pleasure to some Japanese chick or about some Japanese chick re ciprocating the favor. I'm no prude, but why do I care about this guy's sex life? It was n't even interesting or remotely fabulous, but rather lackluster and disappointing. Another aspect of this book I found especially disturbing is that during the course of this book, Muggins is a teacher of the English language in Japan. Even though he's relatively young (mid-20s), the fact that he voiced his desire to get it on with many of his still-teenager (or as he refers to them, "jailbait") stu dents was just gross and wrong on so many levels. There's even a table with his "spermification volume" calculated for his lessons with his students, which JAPANESE, page 11 * StudentUniverse.com its Fly Cheaper Fares to Europe are valid for Domestic fares have a Students Fly Cheaper summer travel, study abroad & more Sample noundtrip Student Airfares from Eugene to: San Diego $168 Lima $690 New York $212 London $992 Boston $232 Bangkok $1092 Maui $460 Sydney $1138 Terms Hares valid for travel Mon-Wed with a 7 day advance purchase, and require a Sat night minimum stay departures through 5/25/05.
