So, it is benefiting students,” he said. Finally, after passionate debate and inquisition, PFC approved a budget of $111, 992, a 6.9 percent decrease from last year’s budget, which was the executive recom mendation. The Emerald had re quested $125,000, a 3.8 percent in crease. However, the proposal for the increase was not discussed during the hearing. In addition, Sudick said the Emer ald had never received its executive recommendation. The document is to be available 24 hours before a group’s hearing, according to the ASUO Programs Budget Packet, and was promised to be completed 72 hours prior to the hearing, according a Nov. 10 e-mail to all PFC fee-funded programs from ASUO Vice President Mena Ravassipour and ASUO Finance Coordinator Mike Martell. 610 East Broadway (Broadway and Patterson) Eugene ■ 686-8226 Fiesta Sports Room with big screen TVs! ■ Happy Hour Food & Beverages ■ Many Student Specials ■ Celebrate Your Birthday With Us ■ Private Parties and Social Gatherings Student Special CASH COUPON Only $C 50 Burrito Dinner - 9 delicious choices & Free Soda, served with chips, salsa and yummy cheese dip. The bus should be here any minute, but There is NO BUS !! 021244 LTD management wants you to think that your bus operator is to blame if LTD workers go on strike. Yet, it is LTD mismanagement that will cause a strike because... • LTD management declared to the mediator that negotiations were over and impasse was reached, not your bus operators... • LTD management is the one insisting that the cooling off period be limited to 30 days. • LTD management is sitting on $21 million in reserves ($8 million in operations alone...) yet, it is pleading poverty to the press. • Despite LTD being financially “fat” LTD management’s implementation of its final position will cram 17 takeaways down its worker’s throats. Your bus operators do not want to strike. But, LTD management takeaways will cost their families thousands of dollars over the next three years... .- ------- -— What is it your bus operator actually wants? Not much, just a one or two year contract, management’s choice. And to either keep the existing contract or reduce the wage increase to 2%. The time to stop a strike is before it happens. If there is a strike, Ken Hamm LTD’s general manager, will continue to collect his $123,500-a-year salary, so will his management underlings. In contrast, your bus operator will not be earning money and you will not have the transportation you need. Ask yourself “Who is really causing [and wants] the strike?” A strike will not happen if LTD passengers and business sponsors tell LTD to behave responsibly and work with its bus operators to develop a fair contract.
