Clenwood Restaurant: Not Just for Breakfast Glenwood Restaurant 1340 Alder St. - 687-0355 2588 Willamette St. - 687-8201 Fare: American Entrees under $7 Reviewed by Liz Conant and Keri Spangler Conveniently located near campus, the cozy Glenwood Restaurant is best known among university students as a popular weekend breakfast spot. However, we decided to see if the rest of their menu measured up and headed to the Glenwood for dinner. Although the restaurant appears quaint from the outside, the Glenwood actually offers two levels of seating and an outdoor patio. Entering the restaurant, we were impressed by the warm, friendly atmosphere and hospitable staff. Both our waitress and busboy were very attentive and quite knowledgeable about the menu. Once seated, we were overwhelmed with the wide variety of menu options. Choices included all-day breakfast, gour met sandwiches and salads, burritos, pasta dishes, and even Asian-style cuisine. There are also plenty of choices for vege tarians, and options to leave meat off of or to substitute tofu in many dishes. After a thorough examination of the menu, Keri ordered the San Pedro Burrito ($6.75) and I ordered the Mushroom and Grilled Chicken Pasta ($8.75). Given the choice of soup or salad with our meals, we both opted for the Glenwood’s signature tomato cheese soup. It arrived piping hot, and we quickly understood why the delicious soup is a favorite among Glenwood regulars. The creamy soup leaves every diner wanting more and eager for their main dish. Next up were our entrees. Keri’s giant burrito included chicken, avocado, sour cream, tomatoes, chilies and more. Served with a side of salsa, the burrito was tasty and more than enough for one person. Keri was pleased with the fresh mix of vegetables and warm tortilla that encompassed the burrito. My pasta dish was covered in Alfredo sauce, full of mushrooms, and topped with sliced grilled chicken. Served with two dinner rolls, this entree is also not for those with a small appetite. The sauce had great flavor and was a perfect consistency with just the right amount of parmesan cheese on top. We both took home sizeable portions and agreed that dishes are well priced for the amount of food served. Glenwood Restaurant is a great place for students to come for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Open seven days a week, the variety of menu options, reasonable prices, and friendly serv ice make it a popular destination with something everyone can enjoy. WARM FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE 1 .
