The Ducks added a third run in the
second, but were unable to hold
Southern Utah, losing the game 4-3.
"I feel we responded well in the sec
ond game after not being able to
come up with key hits in the morn
ing," Arendsen said. "We came back
with a desire to win and picked up
our offense, defense and pitching."
Oregon used the win against Jack
sonville to gain momentum for Satur
day. The Ducks beat tournament host
UNLV, 2-1, and picked up a five-inning,
9-1 defeat of Long Island University.
Nyhus improved her record to 9-3
with the win against UNLV. She struck
out eight and gave up no walks. Se
nior Anissa Meashintubby struck out
six with no walks in the victory
against Long Island.
Against UNLV, LIudson hit her
third home run of the weekend, tying
the game at one in the sixth.
In the seventh, Richards hit a dou
ble and scored on a double by
Boskovich for the winning run.
Boskovich continued her hot streak
with a 2 for 3 outing against Long Is
land. She had a double and a home run,
while the team had 12 hits, including
four doubles, a triple and two home
runs. Catcher Jenn Poore went 3 for 4,
and Ann Marie Topps was 2 for 3.
Against Long Island, the Ducks
were down early after the Blackbirds
scored a mn in the second.
Boskovich gave Oregon the lead in
the third with a two-run home mn.
The Ducks added four runs in the
fourth and three in the fifth to get the
game called after five innings because
of the eight-run mle.
