"We try to encourage people to work on their in dividual skills outside of practice so we can focus more on improving as a team, rather than as individuals." Brown said Oregon's toughest com petitors will be California, Stanford, UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz. The real test for Oregon will be in the spring. The fall tournament — much like Oregon's Fall Ultimate Kickoff for ultimate Frisbee— is mainly geared toward rookies to test their skills and is viewed as the presea son for spring competitions. Even though Oregon failed to place in the top five, Brown said the tournament was a success for the Oregon teams. A Successful Road Trip The women's Club soccer team hit the road this past weekend in search of its first victory. The team did not have to travel far as they recorded their first win of the sea son against Oregon State. Oregon led, 1-0, at halftime and dominated the Beavers in the second half. Cassie Pruett and Tracy Vanderzanden each had a goal and an assist. "We really came together as a team against OSU, which is very impressive considering we have only practiced with each other for about a month," Vanderzanden said. The Ducks then beat Lewis and Clark, an NCAA Division III school, by a score of 2-0 after losing to the Pio neers, 3-2, two weeks ago. "I think we all remembered losing to them a couple of weeks ago, and so this time it was nice to come back and put two goals away in the second half for the win," soccer coordinator Angel An guiano said. The Ducks ended their weekend in a 0-0 tie against California. Goalkeepers Alexis Bittar and Sarah Kenney com bined for three shutout games, mark ing the first time Oregon has played an out-of-state opponent in five years. "It went off the defender's hands," Weatherspoon said, "and all of a sud den it popped out of my vision. And I went to get it and I caught it. It was weird, but I caught it." The catch was Weatherspoon's only of the game, but it couldn't have come at a better time for the Ducks. Second coming The situation the Ducks found them selves in Saturday was strikingly similar to a game against Arizona State on Oct. 30,1999, at Autzen Stadium. Clemens led Oregon to 14 fourth quarter points, which included an op tion sweep by running back Terrence Whitehead for a 1-yard run with 47 sec onds left Saturday. The comeback mirrored Oregon's tri umph four seasons ago. Joey Harring ton, then a sophomore in 1999, found Marshaun Tucker with a 29-yard touch down strike with nine seconds left to lead Oregon to a 20-17 win over the Sun Devils. Bellotti hopes the comeback gives Clemens the same kind of confidence boost that Harrington's did. "I think that not just for Kellen, but for the entire football team (confidence will build)," Bellotti said. "I think that those things build upon each other. "It's interesting because he started the game so very poorly. Jason Fife came in and played extremely well early.
