Over the years, the workshops developed into a festival of music performances and other activities called the Oregon Bach Festival. Rilling won a Grammy award in “Best Choral Performance” in 2000 for the Bach Festival’s premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki's “Credo,” which will play again this year. The festival will run from June 28 to July 14 at the Beall Concert Hall and Silva Hall at the Hult Center. —fan Montry Eugene pools open for the summer Rain or shine, summer in Eugene always has one feature: swimming. As a result, many local pools have opened for the summer and offer service for all ages. The Amazon Pool, an outdoor swim park at 2600 Hilyard, recent ly opened after upgrading its equip ment. The new facility features the second largest pool on the West Coast, a five-meter diving tower, two new water slides, a water polo pool and a spa area. Aquatic facility supervisor Doug Smith said the new additions en abled the pool to accommodate more people. Also open is the River Road Pool, which has a 25-yard pool, diving board, spa and sauna. River Road Pool, which is located at 1400 Lake Drive, has a popular massage pro gram, along with many other sum mer events. For swimmers who don’t like rainy weather and wish to stay in doors, Eugene-Springfield has many indoor swimming options. Splash!, which is managed by the Willamalane Lively Swim Park Center, has a large wave pool, water slide and children’s pool, and is lo cated at 6100 Thurston Road. Adult swimmers can enjoy an adult spa and lap pool. The Sheldon Pool, an indoor fa cility at 2443 Willakenzie Road, of fers a six-lane pool, fitness center and drop-in childcare. Sheldon also has flexible lap-swim hours and special children’s programs, in cluding Cosmic Swim, Movie Nights and Family Swim.
