Moving is an excuse to shop ■ Local stores offer an eclectic mix of new accessories for students By Danielle Gillespie for the Emerald Summer break and sun shine is fast approaching, and many college students are ready to start anew. Moving to a new house with different roommates has become second nature for most college students, and along with relocation comes the need for new ac cessories. Pier 1 Imports and Bed, Bath and Beyond offer a wide array of innovative decorations, furniture and household appliances. “I think that Pier 1 offers good prices on quality mer chandise that is both trendy, fun and comfort able,” said Erin Reckers, as sistant store manager at Pier 1 Imports. Wicker furniture has be come a very trendy, inex pensive item this spring. Wicker furniture has soft brown or white tones and can be easily color-coordi nated with other household items. Students can deco rate their living area and even their bedrooms in wicker. Bed, Bath and Beyond car ries wicker CD holders, dressers and night stands. An inflatable furniture set can also be a cheap and stylish option for college students. Bed, Bath and Be yond carries inflatable chairs, couches and back rests in assorted colors and they also have bean bag chairs with colorful pat terns. Pier 1 Imports also offers a unique, inexpensive option for students who lack the funds for furniture. “We have floor-size pil lows, which college students often use for couches be cause they are cheaper than actually buying furniture,” said Reckers. The pillows come in a wide variety of colors and are 20” by 20” in length. For those students look ing for other fun and cre ative items, Pier 1 Imports is also having a sale starting today on all outdoor acces sories. A popular item that will be on sale will be party buckets, which are galva nized metal buckets that can be filled with ice to keep beverages cool. The buckets are bigger than ice chests so they can hold more drinks. Other fun accessories for the home that will be fea tured in June at Bed, Bath and Beyond are glow-in the-dark sheets with a con stellation pattern of the stars and shower radios. Bed, Bath and Beyond will also carry the MTV Line, which will include bedding and housing appliances that were featured on the television show the “Real World.” “I think that college stu dents should shop at our store because it offers value, versatility and great prod ucts,” said Don Peroddy, store manager of Bed, Bath and Beyond. Others may choose to rent furniture or visit resale shops for more good deals. 0093161 Early Bird Special 3 Bedroom Apartment ★ Within a block of U0 ★ Laundry facilities ★ Covered parking garage ★ Spacious bedrooms Special rates 1 year: $595 Fall: $725 (9 mo.lease) Summer: $395 ‘Prices subject to change Call now to reserve and for more info.
