Williams, a junior transfer from North Idaho College, scored a 17-9 major deci sion against Tommy Schurkamp at 125 pounds to give the Ducks an early 4-0 lead. “Shaun wrestled extremely well,” Kearney said. “He went out and scored eight takedowns and showed signs of what he's going to be capable of.” • Larwin, a freshman from Bend, also won by decision, outscoring the Aggies’ Jeremiah Jarvis. Sophomores Brian Watson (133) and Casey Hunt (141), and juniors Tony Overstake (149) and Eugene Harris (157) all won by decision to pad Oregon’s lead. UC Davis earned its only victory at 165 pounds. The Aggies’ Adrian Garcia defeated junior Leif Williams, 6-2. Williams was wrestling up one weight class from 157 pounds. “We need to open up and be more opportunistic, but that will come as the season goes along,” Kearney said. The Ducks return to the Medford area this weekend for the Southern Oregon Open, a four-team individ ual tournament in Ashland, Ore. Sophomore Jason Hartmann turned in his second-straight run ner-up performance, trailing Stan ford’s Jonathon Riley by only two seconds and leading Arizona’s Tom Pridinville by less than a second. Hartmann ran a 30:42 through the 10,000-meter course. Senior Michael Kasahun put in his best performance in a Duck uni form, trailing the leaders by only three seconds with his fourth-place finish in a time of 30:45. Oregon trailed No. 2 Stanford, No. 12 Arizona and Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo in the team standings. Junior Adam Bergquist was the next Duck to the finish line, finish ing 34th in a time of 31:47 in his first Regional meet for the Ducks. Red shirt freshman John Lucas was not far behind, placing 38th in 31:53. Oregon’s usual fifth runner, fresh man Brett Holts, was off his mark Saturday, finishing 74th in 32:56. Senior Lincoln Nehring filled the void at the No. 5 spot, placing 45th in a time of 32:10. Freshman Noel 44 I’m really proud of our team for battling because it's been a rough season. Oregon receives official notice to day if it has received one of the re spective at-large NCAA berths.
