“The Challenge of Complexity” The Integrated Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) Graduate Program is an interdisciplinary doctoral program within the School of Medicine at Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, Oregon. The IBMS mission is to provide the next generation of scientists and educators with the expertise to approach biomedical research and teaching in an integrated manner; utilizing molecular, cellular and systems approaches to decipher the complexity of the human organism. The curriculum and faculty offer opportunities for comprehensive, interdisciplinary training that will provide a foundation for understanding healthy animals and people, as well as investigating the causes and possible new treatments of health problems. Students are prepared to meet the teaching and research challenges of modern academic departments in universities and medical schools, as well as the growing needs of the biotechnology industry in the 21st century.
