Editor of Portland Magazine and author Brian
Doyle will read from his latest book Credo.
Doyle describes his book as ’’Essays on
grace, altar boys, bees, kneeling, saints, the Mass,
priests, strong women, epiphanies, a wake, and the
haunting thin energetic dusty figure of Jesus the
Christ." He has also co -authored with his father the
Christopher Award-winning Two Voices: A Father
and Son Discuss Family and Faith. A booksigning
will follow the reading

Indiana University Professor of Comparative
Literature and East Asian Languages, Eugene
Eoyang will be on campus to speak about the issues he
presents in his book Coat of Many Colors, Reflections on
Diversity by a Minority of One. In this lively and unconven
tional critique, Eoyang argues for a new understanding of what
is foreign in America-with implications for racial categories,
the status of the English language, the treatment of immigrants,
and the structure of higher education. A free event sponsored
by The Oregon Humanities Center. A booksigning will follow.

Golden Acrylics brings us Corrine Loomis-Dietz from their Working Artist Program for a wonderful workshop about versatile acrylic paints. Corrine’s
demonstration will cover acrylic basics while opening up new possibilities. Information about mineral and modem pigments and exerting new grounds
will be presented along with a demonstration of the properties of fluid and heavy-body acrylics. Honey-saving tips will be presented for extending
your paint and tips on using the many available gels and mediums. Don't miss this workshop. Lots of answers and free samples, too.
