Dress up, get down at the Hilton
■ Costumes, music and fun
fill the bill for House of
Funkenstein Halloween Ball
By Yael Menahem
Oregon Daily Emerald
Looking for a Halloween party
with class? Then check out the
House of Funkenstein Halloween
Ball at the Eugene Hilton’s Ball
room on Oct. 30th. Local favorites
Satin Love Orchestra, The Groove
Juice Special and Freedom Funk
Ensemble supply the music.
Local music promoter Brendan
Relaford has put together the an
nual event several times, and he
promised “old school funk
merged with Frankenstein and
Dracula” for this year’s crowd.
He also said that attendees can
expect several sideshows, includ
ing a costume contest — grand
prize is one night of lodging and a
dinner at the Hilton.
Not all of the fun and funk hap
pens inside the music hall, how
ever. The lobby has come to be a
favorite place for the partiers who
want to show off their costumes,
Relaford said.
Satin Love Orchestra has head
lined this event before and band
members guaranteed a spectacu
lar concert this time around. The
group performs its shows fully
decked-out in costume.
“Get ready for one big adrena
line rush,” Satin Love leader Reg
is Funk said. “We have created a
sizable budget for special effects
alone.”

The House of Funkenstein is a
21-and-over event. Tickets are
$15 in advance and $17 the day of
the show. They’re available at all
