Then check out the House of Funkenstein Halloween Ball at the Eugene Hilton’s Ball room on Oct. 30th. Local favorites Satin Love Orchestra, The Groove Juice Special and Freedom Funk Ensemble supply the music. Local music promoter Brendan Relaford has put together the an nual event several times, and he promised “old school funk merged with Frankenstein and Dracula” for this year’s crowd. He also said that attendees can expect several sideshows, includ ing a costume contest — grand prize is one night of lodging and a dinner at the Hilton. Not all of the fun and funk hap pens inside the music hall, how ever. The lobby has come to be a favorite place for the partiers who want to show off their costumes, Relaford said. Satin Love Orchestra has head lined this event before and band members guaranteed a spectacu lar concert this time around. The group performs its shows fully decked-out in costume. “Get ready for one big adrena line rush,” Satin Love leader Reg is Funk said. “We have created a sizable budget for special effects alone.” Leading off the night of music _/ •'Sfl A?
