Freshmen: Musical spoof featured ■ Continued from Page 1 they should prepare for possible changes in their children. Hamilton said they will also talk about grades and finances with the parents. Parents should work out how their children will receive money, she said. Parents also need to discuss whether the college student needs to get a job. Hamilton also advised parents to not turn their children’s rooms into the “weight room” or “guest room.” “They need a place to come back to where they don’t feel like a guest,” she said. Also, many IntroDUCKtion par ticipants and their parents get a fur ther taste of college life by spend ing a night in the residence halls. For $18 per person, they also get a taste of residence hall food as well as a night in the Bean Complex. And, of course, the Summer Orientation Staff will present “A Quack Line” again. In its 10th year, “A Quack Line” is a spoof of the musical “A Chorus Line. ” The musical incorporates information about campus services and re duces the anxiety of new students, Winter said. The script is rewrit ten each year and features the vo cal talents of all the Summer Ori entation Staff. Although IntroDUCKtion is run similarly from year to year, Win ter does plan two changes: earlier placement testing and two sepa rate dinnertimes. “We figured it was better to have placement testing earlier because people are less tired, and we want ed the dinner lines shorter [than last year],” she said. Winter, who worked with Intro DUCKtion as a student for two years before becoming the director, said she has enjoyed watching the pro gram grow. “I enjoy seeing how the program really aids people in their transition to college, ” she said. Hamilton also said IntroDUCK tion is a valuable experience. “IntroDUCKtion is a test to see if students can leave home,” she said. “It’s a chance to test the wa ters and make sure everything is going to be OK when they do go to school in the fall.” CBS Tapes [fs 2 S 8‘ e , 1 3 t * E u 'g e M e 3 4 2 ^9IS 5HO®’ -S-' \Es L L Tit A eE u s e a 1 ^ E.tf'lpt.V s LIVE MUSIC No cover charge EVER! 7/9 Natty Bumpo & Kelly Thibodeaux 7/10 John Barley ACOUSTIC ANARCHY 7/11 Roy Swanson ALL SHOWS START AT 9:30 P.M.
