McPeak will be speaking to a freshman semi nar on the history of aviation on Thursday, May 14. The former member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will speak on the importance of a strong air force as a deterrent to war, said associate Professor Emeri tus William E. Lamon, the in structor of the freshman semi nar. The general retired from the Air Force in 1994. “I’m amazed he agreed to come speak,” Lamon said. The speech will be open to the entire University commu nity because of support from the Department of Military Sci ence.
