Dance: UO students to dance in show ■ Continued from Page 5A the production. Four University students are involved with Return to Avalon as dancers. Jenny Rejeske, a junior inter national studies major, began dancing with the Briggs Compa ny in November, which led to her involvement with Return to Avalon. Rejeske, a native of Ft. Collins, Colorado, has been dancing since age three. She works with dance professor Stephen Chatfield as a research assistant in his motor control research lab. Rejeske teaches ballet at the Eugene School of Ballet, South side Athletic Club and at Ta-Da. In the future, she is considering graduate school and further involvement with both dance and international studies. “I would love to combine international work with dance,” she said. For Rejeske, Return to Avalon has been a great experience because she has been able work with so many different artists collaborating on one project. “It’s amazing how well it has all worked together,” she said. Heather Meyer, a senior Eng lish major, has also benefited from the collaborative process involved with Return to Avalon. “It’s a very diverse group,” Meyer said. “I really enjoyed working towards a common goal.” Meyer, who has been dancing for most of her life, grew up in Spain, where her parents worked as teachers on a U.S. Army base. She returned to the United States to attend college and is considering joining the Americorp program next year. Two other University stu dents, Darrel Kau and Kim Huber, are also dancers in Return to Avalon. The two are also choreographing pieces for the show. Hall, who invested a lot of his own money to get the show put together, also received support from local businesses for the production of Return to Avalon. Even though the group is plan ning to put together a tour of a new, larger-scale show in 1998 and to travel as far away as Van couver, B.C. and San Francisco, Hall wants to keep the group based in Lane County. “That’s been my plan for two years now,” Hall said of the group’s tour. According to Hall, the process of putting together Return to Avalon has involved a great group effort from all of the par ticipants. “They all put such effort and vitality into what they do,” Hall said. The first performance of Return to Avalon premiered in Florence on May 31. Hall said the show went over quite well there. Future performances include a two-night stop at the Hult Cen ter on June 13 and 14. Both shows are at 7:30 p.m. and are $12 per person. Return to Avalon donates 5% of all of their ticket and mer chandise sales to the Make- A Wish Foundation.
