With NIKE's help, they'll be used to build athletic sur faces such as basketball courts and running tracks. By recycling shoes, we are cutting down on solid waste while building something useful. Look for Reuse-A-Shoe bins around campus and donate those REUSE ■», r--<a>->! smelly, old, tattered kicks.'^S H O E) Doing it Many of the nicknames we receive as children are quickly outgrown. Espen "The Windmill" Lovold's handle hasn't been so easy to live down. Known for sweeping arm movements that resemble the wind-powered machines, Espen's been churning the air in search of table tennis topspin smashes for nearly a decade. Born and raised in Norway, Espen brought his code name to the University of Oregon Table Tennis Club Team in 1995. With the combination of U of O's excep tional facilities and skilled teammates to practice against, he's reached the Collegiate Table Tennis National Champ ionships every year since. Espen's backhand-topspin will be on dis play again at the upcoming championships. Opponents and spectators alike are advised to bring jackets; during Espen's match, there may be a bit of a draft.
