Partygoers file lawsuits against Rams’ Phillips ■ NFL: One lawsuit alleges that Phillips touched a woman’s body with his hands and a champagne bottle The Associated Press OMAHA, Neb. — Two people who were at a party with Lawrence Phillips filed law suits Wednesday, accusing the St. Louis Rams running back of assault, battery and false imprisonment. The former Nebraska football player was arrested early Sunday at the party in Oma ha and was charged with disorderly con duct. Police said partygoers restrained him from attacking officers. Phillips was re leased on bail pending a hearing next month. The lawsuits filed in Douglas County Dis trict Court by Lisa Bateman and Arthur Stallworth seek unspecified damages. The two also filed separate lawsuits against former Nebraska football player Clinton Childs. Bateman’s lawsuit alleges that Phillips touched intimate parts of her body with his hands and a champagne bottle. A separate suit alleges that Childs repeatedly touched her inappropriately. In another lawsuit, Stallworth, Bateman’s boyfriend, accuses Phillips and Childs of beating him at the party. The lawsuits alleges that Childs and Phillips confined Bateman and Stallworth without their consent. Phillips’ attorney, Hal Anderson, did not immediately return telephone calls seeking comment. Childs’ whereabouts Wednesday were not known. Leigh Ann Retelsdorf said the county had not filed criminal charges against Phillips based on any of the accusations in the civil lawsuits. “If there is a police investigation, our of fice is not involved at this point,” she said. At this time, no criminal action is pend ing at the city level either, said city prosecu tor Marty Conboy. Ducks: UO women face tough win over Wildcats ■ Continued from Page 7 Arizona squeaked out a 60-57 win over the Ducks thanks to two free throws from Felecity Willis in the game’s final seconds. “It would have been nice to have that game, especially at home,” Edamura said. “It puts more pressure on us to beat them there.” Oregon head coach Jody Runge said, while the Ducks would like to make amends for the loss to Arizona at home, a win in Tucson is tough to come by. "Obviously, since the three point loss [to Arizona] we would like to go down there and win a basketball game,” Runge said. “But you are talking about playing a great team, and your talking about playing them on their home court.” Playing the Wildcats at home could prove difficult. Arizona is 9-1 at home this season, with its only home loss coming to South ern California last month. But Oregon forward Arianne Boyer, who needs just 11 points to move into fifth place on the Ducks’ all-time scoring list, said playing at the McKale Center is no problem. “We know we can beat them on their home court,” Boyer said. “We beat them there last year.” - / don’t think playing tough and losing a game at [Arizona] is going to keep us out of the tournament. So I don’t want to put pressure on a game like that. —Jody Runge UO Women’s Basketball Head Coach -55 In their first game with the Wildcats last season, the Ducks beat Arizona 55-47 on the road, and a repeat performance tonight would put the Ducks that much closer to the tournament. “I think we are all starting to think that each game becomes in creasingly important towards the end of the year,” Boyer said. “Every win that we get from here on out is going to solidify our stance to get into the tournament a little more.” But Runge said a win is not necessary for the Ducks to return to the tournament. “I don’t think playing tough and losing a game at [Arizona] is going to keep us out of the tourna ment,” Runge said. “So I don’t want to put pressure on a game like that.” Jack Purcell’s Limousines for your Feet!
