With the help of the gang leader’s female counterpart, she learns to be cool and to fit in. The musical takes place in 1958 and is filled with the fads and the trends of the times. “‘Grease!’ is a real comedy of manners, capturing the tics and twitches of an uncertain, friendly generation, and it is hugely enter taining,” said Newsweek maga zine. Songs such as “Summer Nights” and “We Go Together,” which were made popular by the John Travolta and Olivia Newton John movie version of the musi cal, will be performed live by the show’s cast members. Funky, ex aggerated dancing will also fill the stage. “Grease!” opened on Broadway in 1972, clocking in with 3,388 performances when it closed April 13,1980. It is ranked as the fifth-longest running musical in Broadway history and was nominated for seven Tony awards, including Best Musical. The revival opened on Broad way in 1994 and is now touring the country. Since its revival, “Grease!” has been nominated for three more Tonys, including Best Revival. “‘Grease!’ is a lively and funny musical — as well as the dancingest one in town. It’s a winner,” said the New York Daily News.
