Campground shooter turns himself in 1A man accused of killing someone in a dispute about loud music at a campground has turned himself in to state police. Edward Paul Leroy, 48, was booked into the Lane County Jail Tuesday on a charge of first-de gree manslaughter with a firearm, state police Sgt. Mike Houlihan said. Leroy is accused of killing Don ald Kurtis Widener, 39, of Rochester, Wash., who was cele brating his 11-year-old daughter’s birthday with other relatives at a campsite near the Cougar Reser voir east of Springfield when the shooting occurred. Six Muslims confess to Saudi bombing 2DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Six Muslim militants have confessed to the truck bombing that killed 19 U.S. servicemen in Saudi Arabia, a Saudi opposition figure said Wednesday, but he predicted it would be weeks be fore authorities announce the de tails. Suspect’s lawyer convinced FBI has wrong man 3ATLANTA — The FBI ought to be convinced by now it has the wrong man in the Olympic park bombing, Richard Jewell’s lawyer said Wednesday, two weeks after the hero security guard emerged as a suspect. “They must know. Do you know anybody in your experi ence that would be smart enough to do this and withstand this kind of scrutiny?” Watson Bryant said. “I’m not. I don’t think Richard is either.” FBI spokesman Jay Spadafore did not immediately return a call for comment. Worshippers killed during celebration 4KARACHI, Pakistan — Gun men opened fire Wednesday on Sunni Muslims gathered out side a mosque to celebrate Pak istan’s Independence Day, killing 11 worshipers and wounding nine. There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but police Su perintendent Din Mohammed Baluch said the attack was reli giously motivated. Other police officials said it was apparently to avenge the shooting deaths last week of two prominent Shiite Muslim leaders in eastern Punjab province. Witnesses said about 200 peo ple had gathered outside the New Town mosque for an Indepen dence Day procession when- the attack began. American neo-Nazi may get five years 5HAMBURG, Germany — A prosecutor has recommended a five-year prison term for Gary Lauck, an American neo-Nazi charged with inciting racial ha tred, defaming Jews and distrib uting illegal material in Germany. In his closing arguments Wednesday, prosecutor Bernd Mauruschat said Lauck, 43, of Lincoln, Neb., remained unre pentant throughout his three month trial and should not be dismissed as a harmless eccentric who praises Adolf Hitler and de nies the Holocaust took place. “Lauck turned many young people against democracy,” said Mauruschat. He said Lauck was motivated by profound anti Semitism and honor for Hitler. Church calls for boycott of Disney 6SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The As semblies of God, a promoter of the Walt Disney Co. for 25 years, called on its 2.5 million members Wednesday to boycott Disney for “abandoning the commitment to strong moral values.” In urging its members not see Disney movies, visit Disney theme parks or buy its other prod ucts, the Pentecostal denomina tion became the third religious group to criticize the company in recent months. The Assemblies criticized Dis ney’s Orlando, Fla., theme park, which has been the site of a Gay and Lesbian Day for several years. Though Disney does not sponsor the event, the church said it should have warned families.
