I enjoy supporting thick athletic* I also enjoy belonging 10 a P»c- 10 school and being able to watch some of the nation* he*t athlete* compete in their «port* When t found out the date of the Oregon v* UCLA home ba» ketball game, I called the l.en Casanova Athletic Center and ordered two ticket* I vm elated by the opportunity to see *ome "Green Ball" as well a* the defending NT. A A national ha* ketball champion* 1 wo verbally given my *eat assignment and told the ticket* would be mailed to my borne in February. doMt to game day My credit card account wa* charged for two ticket* and a serv ice charge on Oct 10. t<m Shortly after that. 1 read in the paper about ticket package* that could be purchased Unfortu nately. they were a little out of my price range, but I had my UCLA ticket* — so I thought 1 received a letter from the University dated Jan 19. 1990 The athletic department explained that "Du# to our increased season ticket and big game ticket plans, the Duck Ticket Office wa* unable to fill my" order for the UCLA game " The office did make me aware that it had "a limited number of obstructed view seat*" that were for sale for $ to They would also credit my credit card account Amazing how these things work I had bought and paid for two tickets for the second most pop ular home game All of a sud den. ihto mm* t* included in a package that also include* wv era! other home games m well a* I wo great view mmi« for tome one who he* the money to become a season ticket holder Now. I don’t have my UCXA ticket* of *ny respect for the way the Oregon Athtefo Depart ment doe* buunes*. I've either watched on TV or listened to all of the men * game* this aeeaon One thing that the commentators, includ ing Jerry Allen, have consistent ly made reference to was the lac k of continued support from the fan* and student body — how "quiet” Mac Court ha* been, how the home fan* hav# “not been a factor in the game" {with the esception of one game) Well, if thi* I* the way the Oregon Athletic Department treat* people who attempt to •how their support for the "money-making' sport*, forget it I will continue my loyalty lo women * sports programs and my attendance at all of the women* home basketball game* Luckily.
