Guard Leatrice Scott and forward Kristin Mattox have combined to lead Louisville as the top scorers in 25 out of their 31 games this season. In her second year at Louisville, after transfer ring from Highland Park J.C., Scott averaged 13.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals a game. Mattox, only a sophomore, posts similar numbers averaging 13.7 points. 5,9 rebounds and 1.5 The Oregon women will need to keep their high-flying heroics In order as they take their high-scoring offense Into a second consecutive tour nament appearance against the best teams In the nation. Louisville is only hitting 42 percent of its shots from the field, with its highest shooter for percentage being a non-starter — freshman forward Jamie Ludwig As their offense struggles at times, the Cardinals defense is their cornerstone This season Louisville has allowed oppo nents to score just over f>3 points a game, while thwarting the opposition's st oring opportuni ties with a 38 percent field goal defense The Cardinals also hold the edge over their opponents in rebounding ( + 18 margin), blocked shots (111-89) and steals (327-25-1) By Tuesday the Ducks will have all of these statistics and accomplishments in mind, so how do the Ducks combat Louisville's favorable numliers? “We’re just going to concen trate on getting our own game together." When Oregon travels to (.cor gi a, the statistical numbers will he leaning all in the Duc ks' favor. With Oregon c oming from the stronger of the two confer ences, the numbers do not lie about the team's ability The Ducks' offense is one that should give Childers and his team fits as Oregon has four players averaging double digits in scoring, all combining for 58 points a game between them Along with the Ducks’ scoring ability comes a wide range of consistent shooters — center Kenae Fegent. forwards Arianne Boyer anti Hom ing are all shoot ing above 50 percent from the field, while the team is shooting 46.5 percent This trio of inside players would not lie able to gut it done if it wasn't for the ability tile Ducks possess at the guard spots Cindie Kdamura and Crowe have combined for 181 assists while averaging 24 points a game between the two of them. On defense there is no let down whatsoev er by the Duc ks as they have held the opponents of their tough schedule to 41 4 percent shooting from the field.
