Hut time and time again. So even though the Ducks 'didn't win, the Rom Bowl was a story book ending to an unbe lievable season "It was a tremendous experi ence." Asher said reflecting on the week of the Rose Bowl "I have a lot of great memories — stuff I'll have with me for the rest of my life." In short, the Rose Bowl repre sents everything that is good almut college football. |oe Pater no is Oregon's own Fighting Ducks Now that's stuff to get excited about Seeing Patorno and Oregon coach Rich Brooks interact dur ing the week before the game, it seemed a shame that one of those class acts would have to return home on the losing end of the game Brooks looked like a kid in a candy store for most of the time leading up to the game. And why not? Here's a guy that was pegged for the unemployment line by most at the beginning of the season 1 can’t even begin to imagine the amount of satisfac tion Brooks must l»> keeping to himself as this, his IHth year at the helm of the Ducks, proved to be his greatest ever. The experience of the Rose Howl transcends all definitions of a college football game The Ducks weren't playing for a National Championship. For that matter, either was Penn State as it turned out. It just didn't matter though For the Ducks and their fans, tins represented what could have been considered only a dream as the 1904 season got underway Unlike a Penn State or a US(.. Oregon doesn't get this kind of chance very often, especially after a 1-2 start. "These guys haven't been to a Rose Bowl in a long time." n reporter uttered in response to the Oregon fans cheering as the halftime total offensive yardage was announced.
