Oregon Daily Emerald Sports— Don’t even bother reading this Every onr.e in a while. I make up letters and answer them in an attempt to be somewhat humorous. Of course, those letters are never actual letters from actual readers. But at the end of those columns, 1 usually end them by asking renders to submit any kind of question to me they might have about sports. Well, I actually got one Because I've begged readers to submit. I feel I have no choice but to run this letter. Plus, there's really not much going on in spores right now. Oh sure, baseball is starting. But I think baseball stinks. Yeah, this letter stinks too. hut not as much as baseball Here it goes I swear 1 didn't change a singlo word in this piece of work. Dear David Charbonneau, Did you sec the IVtU NBA stuff shot competition? I think Isiah (some people call him / R I Rider is my favorite basketball player now But I wanted to ask you, sometimes a stuff shot is when a player throws the bas ketball through the basketball hoop and sometimes it is w hen a player blocks another player’s shot from getting to the hoop To clear this up. maybe you could call the first shot I described as “the chuck shot. " You could write, "With three minutes left in the basketball contest, Orlando (some people call him "O, ” hut I think those people know him personally/ Williams lumped up high and chucked the basketball through the basketball hoop." This way it would he clearer as to what really happened I also wanted to ask you. would it he neat if I brought a sign to our next home contest that said, “Hey Damon Runyon, do a big Kentucky Chuck Shot " That would he a certain type of chuck shot It's not from Ken tucky. it just sounds neat If I brought such a sign, would fans like me more or would they he angry with me because they don't know what a chuck shot is? Could you write me or tell everyone in your column the answers to my question ? Sincerely. Bart Crackenbeagle Well Bari, first of all I want to say that you've obviously done way, way too many drugs in your lifetime (no offense, of course). Secondly, the Oregon bas ketball season is over. And even if it wasn’t, bringing a sign asking Runyon to make a “chuck shot” wouldn't be too effective because Runyon was injured this season and didn't play. When the Ducks were win ning, he would do some pretty wacky dances on the sidelines. Luckily that didn't happen all that often because it could get ugly at times. Let's hope Huny on is healthy next season when the Ducks will probably win a lot more games. Because if he's on the bench, we’ll have to watch him dance a lot more. Hopefully, he'll be in the game shooting your “Kentucky ('buck Shots." Hnng a sign to the games next year. Maybe you could even get Damon to sign it for you. Whatever you do, don't bring a sign that says “Hey Damon Hunynn, ran I have the next dance," or else you're screwed. Anyway, cut back on the crack but thanks for showing interest in my column and giv ing something to fill up my weekly column requirement with.
