Hate flyers don’t help our situation Love those hate flyers. Office of Public Safety officers and janitorial staff recently found about 100 copies of two racist, anti-ho mosexual flyers in and around the EMU. The flyers screamed: "Special rights means less rights for whites! No special rights for dykes!" and "Hey fags your life stinks." Yep, right here at the University, where phrases like "cultural diversity" appear often in textbooks and classroom lectures but horribly infrequently in real life. The flyers, whit h were found about two weeks ago. appeared prior to the 1. A. beating verdict and subse quent rioting. Interestingly, a good portion of the crowd listening at the university s rally protest ing the verdict was white This is a good sign. It show s some of those need ing to listen are listening. There's a heck of ,1 lot of ignorant e that needs to lie addressed, racially spe,ik ing as well as otherwise, and it will take a heavy dose of t.liking and listen ing to liegm to resolve it It also shows that a lot of whites are supporting minority groups on this t ampus, and hopeful!) in this town, and thankfully aren’t at home writing im liocilir hate flyers When When flyers like these show up, it’s easy to assume every white heterosexual either participated in the writing of them or supports their distribution. It's .in indisputable truth that when animals, including hu mans. feel threatened and afraid, they isolate them selves while lashing out for proter lion The fiver au thors easily fit tile bill.
