IFC reconsiders budgets;
greeks select new officers
At its Thursday meeting, the
Incidental Fee Committee vot
ed to reconsider a budget re
quest from Students for the Eth
ical Treatment of Animals.
SETA had been granted $H02
for 1991-92 at its Nov. 30 budg
et hearing, but suggestions
from the EMU program consul
tant's office were not taken into
consideration at the time the
budget was approved, IFC
Chairman Mike Colson said
For instance, the EMU will
be getting a new telephone sys
tem next year, which will affect
budget allocations for phone
costs, he said.
SETA's budget will be heard
again in February.
The IFC also voted to allow
MEChA. the Latino and Chica
no student union, to submit its
budget although the group
missed the 5 p.m. deadline
Thursday.
According to IFC Resolution
12. passed earlier this year, any
group that misses its budget
deadline without making prior
arrangements with the IFC will
not have its budget heard and
will not be funded through in
cidental fees.
IFC members Freddy Vilches.
JoSonja Watson. Armando Mo
rales and Kari Anderson voted
to suspend the rules for
MEChA, granting the motion
the two-thirds vote needed to
carry.
Barclay Grayson and Colson
voted against the motion to sus
pend.
