Klections Hoard publicitv director. these anonymous posters "obviously are being used as a sabotage tactic.," a practice that will not bo tolerated by the Elections Hoard According to the ASI'O Elec tion guidelines, sabotage is de fined as the "destruction, de facing. stealing, intentionally covering or removing the cam paign material or property of a candidate or campaign t ommit tee without permission." In addition, the guidelines Stated. "Campus Security and the Eugene Police will be con tacted In investigate major vio lations of this rule, which will lx' strictly enforced by the Elec tions Board and the Constitu tion Court " The guidelines further state that "any printed campaign material for or against a ballot measure must identify the sponsoring organization, com mittee. or person somewhere on the front of the material. Anonymous posters or flyers for or against a ballot measure are subject to removal by the Elections Board or any person acting with explicit permission from the Hoard This same policy, however, also applies to the posting of flyers and posters, heffer said The penalty for this offence is a serious one. he said "If an olher candidate is caught doing this, thev <;an !»■ kicked out of the race " In addition, the action also may be termed as childish, said ASUO presidential candidate Hughes "I believe that both Scott and I have answered the charges made." Hughes said "We've given people specific reasons for our decisions to walk out (of Ixilh meetings." Ill Hughes' view, the flyers are "cheap shots" at candi dates. "It's humorous that people think that they can affect the elections in this juvenile way." he said "If they want to con front us on the issue, they should do it out in the open."
