I think we need to let them know that we care about them and that we think they can be come integrated again.' — Dan Shepherd, junior, economics/Asian studies ‘We need to make people more aware that there is a problem. / think a lot of people just think these people bum around because they don't want to work or some thing and they don’t really know there is a problem.' — Laurel Hammack, senior, English ‘It doesn’t mean we should ignore them. The best thing would be provide incentives, the city government can provide some incentives to build housing here. Joyce is one of throe area artists commis sioned to make works for the airport, and will be paid $15,000 for his efforts. The mu ral should be in place by next June, he said. Joyce said he felt he got a good cultural mix from the photo sessions, noting that peo ple of several ethnic back grounds were represented, as were many age groups. He add ed that he and his associates had been concerned that the photos might become dated too soon after being installed at the airport, but said Saturday's ses sion eased their concerns. Joyce’s work is represented in galleries in New York, Los Angeles and Seattle, and bis most recent show in Kugene was at the University Museum of Art. He has lived in Eugene since 1970, and in 1980 was awarded an Oregon artist fel lowship by the Oregon Arts Commission.
