Although generally not frequented by the student population, this real coffee shop is a hidden goldmine for those seeking an affordable breakfast at a slow-paced, high-style diner. Located about two blocks south of Hoot's, the Hult Plaza Coffee shop is si miliar to Hoot’s in terms of style, but much smaller. With only five booths, three tables, and a coffee counter, the restaurant has the ability to serve good food on a personal level. The food is priced modestly but the portions are large. And the coffee is brewed frequentl\ and served up fresh. The restaurant has Eugene written all over it; it is the type of place where people read the Register-Guard, not the Orego nian. with breakfast. Aesthetically, the restaurant's decor is almost surreal. With neat yellow napkin holders at each table, ugly oil paintings with big wood frames on the wall, and a confined overall look, the Hult Plaza Coffee Shop is the type of place where peo ple who collect salt and pepper shakers hang out.
