Mousing in the fcugene/Spr ingfield area can lies! be found by checking with the Off Cam pus Housing Office in Suite 3 of the EMU. Whether students am in search of a roommate, a house, an apartment or a con dominium. the office provides many services to help them find what they need. A bulletin board is posted outside the office, and a local phone is available for calling prospective landlords In addition, the office pro vides pamphlets and brochures on both permanent and tem porary housing, agencies with rental listings, tips on locating housing, and lease contracts to students. Residence Halls According to Dick Romm, director of the University's residence halls, rent for eight weeks in the dorms is $490 for a five-day week in a multiple and $569 for a seven-day week. These prices include room and hoard. Romm said. A single is $628 for a five-day week and $707 for a seven-day week. Romm said. The University Inn is available with a room only for a seven-day week for $323 for eight weeks in a multiple and $504 for a single. Romm said. This includes a private bath and a telephone, he added. (Cooperatives Cooperatives offer a group living situation in which students am interdependent Those in Eugene include Parr Tower. 1648 Alder St.; Janet Smith, 1790 Alder St.; and Campbell Club, 1670 Alder St. These are cooperatives for coeds. The Chelsea House, 1851 Onyx St.; and Philadelphia Mouse. 1598 Orchard St.; are Christian organizations. Parr Tower is open generally only to those students who stay fall, winter and spring terms. At the Janet Smith Co-op, rent including room, hoard and utilities is $415 for eight weeks starting June 22. There is a $50 deposit to reserve a room and it costs $50 to move in. all of which is refundable — except for $10 membership fee to the national cooperative organization. Kent is $25 a week after August 14. and food is not in cluded Board is $4 a day and requires each hoarding member to do about two-and-a-half hours of shared housework a week People who are in the house are expected to work five hours a week. The Campbell Club charges $415 rent from June 23 to August 14. This includes three meals a day. Students also can stay for the additional weeks of August 16 to September 19. but no food is included according to Heather Edwards, corporate membership chair. Campbell Club also offers meals for $4 a day from June 23 to August 14. At Chelsea House, rent from June 15 to September 15 is $120 a month. The rent is pro-rated if a student does not plan to stay the entire month, and there are kitchen privileges. Though the house is a Catholic organization, all denominations are welcome. The damage deposit of $110, which includes a $10 laundry Illustration by lorrainr Rath fee, is fully refundable. Philadelphia Mouse charges a rent of $100 a month and has a $110 refundable deposit. This rental fee is in effect from June 15 through September 15. While no meals are provided, kitchen privileges are available to students who want to cook Kent includes all utilities, cable television and the daily paper All applicants are required to have one local reference. Quads Students who do not wish to live in dormatories but cannot afford an apartment have the option of renting a quad Quads consist of four separate bedrooms that sham a common kitchen, bathroom and shower Two are operated by Jennings and Co.: Cedarwood Quads. 441 E. 17th Ave.; and another, which is not named, on 553 K 18th Ave. According to fennings and Co., Cedarwood Quads charges a monthly rental fee of $119 during the summer and requires a $100 damage deposit that is fully refundable. All utilities are included. The second set of quads operated the group does not in clude utilities in the $119 rental fee, but it does include private baths and refrigerators.
