Forum ^°n*'nue^ ^r°m paRe 1 ing was the controversial Athletic Department ballot measure. Lachkar and Mooney, runing on the Students for a Progressive Agenda ticket, said they were in support of the Athletic Department, but could not support a $<>.50 increase per student per term. “It’s too much of an increase too soon,” Lichkar said. “Athletics are worthy of in cidental fees. But not all students are athletes and not all students attend the events," Mooney added. Frichette concurred with the Lachkar/Mooney ticket, and stressed the best place for such a controversial issue is on the ballot. Levinson said he supported the measure, but does not sup port raising incidental fees as a whole. He talked about combin ing the smaller foreign and minority groups into larger cultural unions as one way to decrease the amount of inciden tal fees paid. Brooks has been a vocal sup porter of the ballot measure, and she wants people to realize the state does not fund athletics. She would lobby actively for state funding if elected, she said. The term "depoliticization" has been heard quite frequently during the election. In depoliticizing the ASUO office. Cooper said she would be out speaking to students and "working to make sure inciden tal fees are allocated fairly.” The question of I.evinson and Ball’s lack of experience also was brought up. "We have no political experience and we’re proud of it.” Levinson said, ad ding both he and Ball have managerial and business ex perience that would enable them to reach out and do the job.
