Sports Trojans control Taylor; Ducks lose third straight By Capi Lynn Of Ihr Kmerald Hie University of Southern California basketball team put a damper on Oregon's scoring machine, Anthony Taylor, and strolled to a ti0-5fi Pacific-10 Conference victory Saturday at the Sports Arena in I,os Angeles. The Trojans held Taylor, the Ducks' primary offensive weapon, to just 12 points on five of 10 from the field with a t e n a c i o u s d o u h I e -1 e a m coverage. The 6-foot-4 guard went into the game averaging 21.7 points an outing, having scored 20 or more in the last six games prior to the loss. Oregon plummeted to 2-5 in the Pac-10 and H-H overall with its third straight loss, while IJSC]. registering its first con ference home victory, moved to 2-H and 7-9. While USC was busy concen trating on Taylor. Duck forward Jessie Nash scored a career-high 14 points, despite fouling out of the game. Nash and teammate Keith Balderston spent most of the game in foul trouble underneath the basket while trying to sub due Trojan forward Derrick Dowell, who poured in 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Duck center Sven Meyer toss ed in 16 points for the night, although he hit only three of 15 shots from the floor. Meyer also collected 11 rebounds.
